I think it would be doable for you. I don't know how much snow, if any, Hat Creek got out of this storm, so it may turn into a hike. The timing and locations for doing a combined trip is PERFECT! Grab some lunch in between and you'll be good to go. Let me know if you decide to do this option and I may join you.

USAT license required for this race. Usually you can buy a one day "pass" at the event for $5-$10 (may be more IDK), or if you plan on doing more events $75 a year.
