Backpack / Hike to Deadfall Lakes

No location was chosen

Overnight beginner friendly backpack to Deadfall lakes or for those who dont want to stay overnight its a good day hike too.
I am open to options of where to meet since I am coming from Yreka...possible Meet at the I-5 Edgewood Exit (just north of Weed ,west side of highway). Head north on Old Hwy 99 to Stewart Springs Rd, go 4.7 mi. to road 17 , then 9.5 mi. to the PCT parking trailhead (Parks Creek Pass) on the left. Easy , mostly level hike on PCT to Deadfall Lakes. Approx 2.7 - 3 miles one way. There are 5 lakes but campsites are limited and small next to the lakes .
Five lakes to explore, Mt Eddy, alpine meadows, swim, fish....we will have plenty to do !

Meet at trailhead ( where the PCT crosses the road) at 10 am Saturday morning , and leave Deadfall lakes for home Sunday afternoon or stay till monday.

I may spend Friday night in Yreka, so may not be available to carpool from Redding. I'll keep you posted as to my plans as we get nearer to the end of the week.

Can possibly stay through Monday. Is there a problem with bringing my well-behaved labrador?

There is the possibility of thunder showers this weekend so check back here for the weather update on friday night.
If its not good for camping I will still do a day hike.

The update plan as of Thursday. I am planning on packing in with the intention of staying but if the weather turns bad there is always the option of hiking back out , even after dark.
The weather report says cool and mostly cloudy w/ chance of rain, so pack and dress accordingly.
I think it will be a good test of some wet weather gear that I never use.

WEll this is going to be an "adventure" for sure. Not real sure what kind of weather we will run into but were an "adventure " group right ? Pack / dress for "variable " weather.
See everyone at the I-5 Edgewood exit or at the trail head Saturday morning!

Who would have thought...snow in August ! No ordinary hike, this hike will be talked about in the future....And the start of "trail names". Disappointed we didnt get to stay but really happy about everyone (and "brave" new people )showing up for a challenging day hike anyway.

It's outings like these that put ADVENTURE in NCOA! Disappointed that the weather canceled the backpack portion of the adventure but thrilled that our group was ready for a wild weather adventure. Great meeting newbies Penny, Audrey, Samantha and Carol.
