Winter Summit of Mt. Lassen

Climbing Mt. Lassen March 12, 13 and 14th.
Meet in Red Bluff at McDonald's on Antelope Blvd at 8am on March 12.
This is a six hour backpacking hike to the Lassen Peak Trail head parking lot from the Southwest entrance parking lot. 1800 vertical feet over six miles of snow covered road. We will set up base camp in the Lassen Peak parking lot and attempt a summit sat morning. Mountaineering boots, crampons, ice ax, snowshoes or cross country ski are advised.
This outing will only take place on a sunny weekend. It will automatically bump to the next weekend that has sun and Saturday and Sunday. Sunny means no clouds.
Everyone will climb at their own pace and Discretion. I would like to think we would climb as a group, but that implies a final group decision on proceeding or not and I don't leave my own personal safety to democracy.

Friday: Snow. High near 35. Windy, with a south wind between 31 and 36 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 13 to 19 inches possible.
Friday Night: Snow showers likely, mainly before 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 16. Windy, with a southwest wind 30 to 33 mph decreasing to between 15 and 18 mph. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
